BIO

Born and Raised in New York City, I was exposed to the industry at the age of sixteen. I worked as a stagehand on Broadway for a number of musicals and plays. That is where I first observed very established actors practice their craft. Actors like B.D. Wong, John Lithgow, Tony Randall, Carol Burnett, Rene Auberjonois, Bob Gunton, Kathleen Turner, and Matthew Broderick.

I continued to work on Broadway, and after studying for two years at SUNY Purchase (www.purchase.edu) I moved to Massachusetts to continue my education at Curry College (www.curry.edu). Drawing on my professional experience in New York I, helped expand the theatre program there, and as a result, I was the recipient of a theatre scholarship. My first acting classes were improv, scene study and Tai Chi and I became more and more involved with acting each year. After graduating with a B.A in Communications and a minor in Theatre & T.V. Production I enrolled in Jeannie Linheim’s theater workshop, in Brookline Ma, (www.hospitalclowns.org) where I learned clowning and Uta Hagen’s acting techniques. All the while continuing to work for legit and touring theatre companies in Boston.

Jeannie Lindheim's classes encouraged me to move back to New York and enroll in Ms. Hagen's school, HB Studio (www.hbstudio.org). I studied with an outstanding instructor, Rochelle Oliver, who helped me break through many obstacles, She taught Ms. Hagen's technique along with scene study and Sanford Meisner's repetition excersize. I also took Mime and improv with Rasa Allan Kaslas and Shakespeare with Jeffrey Owens. I began to sink my teeth in to New York Theatre. I was cast in showcases, regional theatre, dinner theatre and tours. Please refer to my resume page for details.

HB Studio, is also where I met my beautiful future wife, Anna Hughes. We met in Rochelle's class and toyed with the idea of doing a scene from Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna’s play “It Had To Be You" We never did the scene but little did we know at the time, that three years later that phrase would be the theme for our wedding. Anna continues to study acting and develop her outstanding voice for musical theatre at The Singers Forum (www.singersforum.org). She teaches and practices yoga at Yoga Works (www.yogaworks.com)

I landed my first lead role in a film called "Ocean City", a twenty-one minute indie short about a plunger salesman who is in search of a better life. It was a priceless experience and, when completed, it screened at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival (www.psfilmfest.org). It Enjoyed much success. It was the Opening Night Selection for The Cape May New Jersey State Film Festival and Ocean City Film Festival. It recieverd nominations for: Best Dramatic Short; Ohio Independent Film Festival. Best Student Short; Rehobooth Film Festival. Best Student Short; First Glance Philadelphia Film Festival.

I seized an opportunity to audition for a role in Twentieth Century Fox's. "The Family Stone". I got the part of David Silver; A "One Liner" during the audition that, on the day of the shoot, was expanded to a sizable scene.. I spent all day in the presence of people at the top of their field and I absorbed everything. Most importantly, how the marquis talent made each take fresh, as if for the first time.

Early in 2006, Anna and I started an audition/monologue workshop. We have a core group of fellow actors and theatre practitioners who meet weekly and work on audition pieces and original scripts. For information on this workshop, including script submissions,  please click on the news section of this website.

I think there is no substitute for hard work and perseverance. Life is a series of opportunities that we need to take advantage of. These opportunities are like doors and each door needs to be opened, and the threshold crossed. When we do this, it allows another door of opportunity to open. We string these opportunities together to create the fabric of our destiny; each moment relating to the other and bringing us closer to the greatness in ourselves which we can all realize. I've also learned that, in life, there is no station in which to arrive. Instead, it is the journey itself and the lessons we learn on the way, that informs us of who we are.
